Alumni News | November 2018

Thank you to all who attended the 2019 Hawaiian Ride for Youth Launch on Tuesday 16th October at the State Reception Centre.

This year’s launch saw a fantastic turn-out of both new and seasoned riders, all celebrating the beginning of their journey to raise awareness of youth mental health and support the life-changing work of Youth Focus.

The evening featured extensive networking opportunities, engaging presentations and an interactive social media activation that encouraged riders and Support Crew to share their personal reasons and motivations for taking part in this life-changing experience.

Youth Focus is grateful to the riders, their families, the Hawaiian Ride for Youth Organising Committee and Support Crew who collectively continue to make this important event so extraordinary.

Youth Focus would like to congratulate this year’s nine Hall of Fame inductees who have demonstrated unwavering commitment and passion through their contribution to the Ride:

We are seeking Expressions of Interest (EOIs) for school presenters for the 2019 Hawaiian Ride for Youth. The school visits are one of the most important aspects of Ride Week and are often a highlight for those involved. The aim of the school visits is to:

  • Promote positive mental health;
  • Communicate to the students that we  all struggle at times, but things can and do get better;
  • Improve the students ability to recognise when they or their peers are struggling, and;
  • Increase the likelihood that students will seek help.

If you are selected as a school presenter, you will be invited to attend a school presenter information briefing in November and assigned a Youth Focus mentor who will support you in planning and preparing your presentation. Click here to submit your EOI by Friday, 9th November 2018.

Expressions of Interest are now open for the 2019 Hawaiian Ride for Youth Support Crew.  Support Crew are absolutely vital to the success of the Ride.  If you or anyone you know is interested in volunteering for this once in a lifetime experience we encourage you to submit an EOI. Read more about the Support Crew here.
