Thank you for your interest in participating in the Hawaiian Ride for Youth as a member of the Support Crew.
Your participation in the Ride will provide you with an unbelievable personal experience and, more importantly, raise much needed funds and awareness for Youth Focus and the life-saving work that it does in the community.
Established in 1994, Youth Focus is a Western Australian not-for-profit organisation that provides free yet professional services to young people 12-25 years old who are showing signs associated with suicide, depression, anxiety and self-harm. Youth Focus operates within the Perth metropolitan area and from regional areas including Rockingham, Bunbury, Albany and Geraldton. The opening of these regional offices was made possible partly by funds raised by the riders of the Hawaiian Ride for Youth.
The purpose of the Hawaiian Ride for Youth is:
The vision of the Hawaiian Ride for Youth is to continue to make a difference to youth mental health and our community by remaining relevant. The Ride values safety, respect, camaraderie, courage and passion.
The 2019 Hawaiian Ride for Youth will depart Albany and Geraldton on Tuesday 26 March 2019 and travel approximately 700km per route through the South West and Mid West, finishing in Perth on Saturday 30 March 2019. Along the way, riders and support crew will visit around 26 high schools and engage with more than 3,500 students.
The Support Crew are an integral part of the Ride and are responsible for getting the riders safely from point to point, providing food and water during rest stops and attending to breakdowns and mechanical problems. Education will be provided should it be required for some specific roles. This is a long week of hard work and it is incredibly rewarding to be part of such a special event that provides positive and lasting outcomes in the community.
