This will be my 9th HRFY ride having previously completed the Coastal route twice, Inland route three times, Wheatbelt route twice and the Midwest route once.
Along with some of the founding riders who started this incredible event 20 years ago (way before my time), some of their offspring, and a number of other seasoned 'Ride for Youther's' I am privileged and look forward to retracing the steps of the inaugural 700 km ride in this years Heritage peloton.
The community of past and present riders is something quite unique, and its a community that has added extra dimension's to my life, and one which I'm proud to belong.
For me the Ride ticks many boxes including camaraderie and friendships, fitness, and connectivity with nature and regional communities to name a few. The early morning starts for training with that damn alarm buzzing at 4.45 am never seen to get easier though !
However, lets not forget the main aim of the game and that is to raise funds for Youth Focus who provide access to mental health services to help young Western Australians get through tough times that they may experience. 58 young people died in WA by suicide in 2020 and that's 58 too many. This is an horrendous statistic.
Together we can make a difference. Please donate generously so that Youth Focus is able to continue to grow the excellent mental health services it provides in our community and contribute to a vision where death by suicide of young people in WA becomes a thing of the past. Thank you for your support.
