I can't wait to get stuck into training for the 2021 Hawaiian Ride For Youth. This year has been incredibly challenging for our entire community on so many levels and I can't help but think that if ever Youth Focus' services were needed they are needed now.
The Ride For Youth has brought so many rewards for me - I've been fortunate to meet an incredible bunch of people who band together to raise much needed funds for an organisation that delivers in spades. I also get to hear members of the peloton share their stories about mental health challenges with students at the schools we visit along our ride from Albany back to Perth. The stories are truly inspirational and get the students talking about mental health which is one of the key goals of the Ride For Youth - raising awareness of mental health and helping to build resilience in the young people in our community.
To top all of that off I get to share some banter on the bike 3 times a week during training and for 700 km or so during ride week and maybe get just that little bit fitter along the journey. It's a win-win all round.
I couldn't do the ride without the support of my beautiful family and, as always, friends, colleagues and family members who contribute donations to Youth Focus - many of whom have done so each year since my first Ride For Youth in 2014.
Thanks for your support.
