Like most people I have ridden a bike, even been on a cycling holiday, but as I rise to this wonderful challenge I realise the amazing skill and techniques required to be a Real Rider. I need such challenges!
The Hawaiian Ride for Youth is an organisation dedicated to saving every life at risk from suicide, depression, anxiety and self harm. The catalyst to me to take on the 700 km challenge was the sad suicide of my daughters great school friend and the impact on her family and friends, together with seeing my great mate Ray Slayford moving from a zero rider to a very accomplished rider through involvement in the HR4Y.
Me - until a month ago I had never ridden > 60 km; never worn cleats; never ridden in a peloton and was not managing the work/life balance as well as a middle aged bloke should.
Please join me in my journey to raise funds for the most worthy cause and conquer the 700 km ride next March. Thank You
