2019 will be my first Hawaiian Ride for Youth and to say I'm excited is an understatement. I'm not a natural born cyclist - whilst I dabbled in cycling back in 2016 it is nothing compared to the 7000+kms we'll be cycling in the lead up to the ride. At 6'3 and over 100kgs, it's no easy task getting on a bike 4+ times a week (and before 5am), to cycle up hills, hills and more hills. This will definitely be both a physical and mental challenge, but one I'm excited to undertake as I know the funds that I raise and the connections I make will go direct to Youth Focus and their purpose of supporting WA's youth and their mental health.
Growing up in the Wheatbelt, I've experienced first hand the struggles that rural youth can have with mental illness and I feel incredibly grateful to have the opportunity to join the ride to help change the lives of those following behind me. Being still relatively youthful myself, I hope to be able to connect with the young people and the communities that we visit, and hopefully, make a difference.
Please donate generously - every dollar raised goes straight to Youth Focus to assist in helping young people who are battling anxiety, depression and suicide. Your donation could help save a life!
