Day One | Inland Route
Today our riders travelled from Albany to Frankland River, calling in at Mount Barker Community College along the way to present to students.
Shane Cary of Team Coogee presented to a full room of students, sharing his personal mental health journey. The room was so quiet, you could hear a pin drop as the students listened to Shane’s important messages about not being afraid to reach out to a mate for help and accepting that you need help in the first place. The lower school students gathered to farewell (and high five!) the riders as they left the school.
The riding weather was perfect, with the peloton arriving in high sprints at Alkoomi Estate Winery in the afternoon. The sunset was truly spectacular as the riders and Support Crew gathered for dinner to reflect on the first day of their Hawaiian Ride for Youth journey.
