Reflecting on12 months ago when my CEO Paul Larsen decided after sponsoring a 2016 RfY Team it was time the business sponsored a team of employees and I was asked to join the 2017 team. I hadn't ridden a bike since I was a kid growing up in Wagin, but 6 months training 3 times a week and 5 days riding ~700km from Gero to Perth, I'm on my way to becoming a cyclist.
So when I was asked to go around again in 2018, no longer be a newbie and to Captain one of the two Arc Infrastructure teams how could I resist! I'm excited about riding with those that I experienced the 2017 ride with and excited to bring a number of fellow employees and first year riders onto the RfY experience.
I'm also excited to be riding on the Wheatbelt route, which will pass through the region I grew up in and where some of my family still lives. I also look forward to supporting Youth Focus and the great work it does in metro & regional WA to reduce youth suicide by lowering depression, anxiety and self-harm in at risk 12-25 year olds.
Thanks to my wife Lisa and my girls Sienna & Indigo for supporting me during the training and the ride. Thanks to Arc Infrastructure for sponsoring two teams again this year. And finally, thanks to you for supporting me by donating for this great cause where every $ you donate will go directly to provide counselling for those in need.
