After having such great experiences in 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2017, I will again be participating in the Hawaiian Ride For Youth from 20 to 24 March 2018, riding 700km from Albany to Perth.
The purpose of the ride is to raise much needed funds for Youth Focus, which is an independent not for profit organisation that supports vulnerable young people in Western Australia by offering a range of mental health services for free, without referral and for an unlimited amount of time.
As a result of the 2017 ride, close to $2,500,000 was raised for Youth Focus. Since 2003, the ride has raised over $17,000,000 for Youth Focus.
During the 2017 ride, four pelotons totalling 168 riders cycled on four routes through the towns of Geraldton, Morawa, Dalwallinu, New Norcia, Northam, Walpole, Pemberton, Busselton, Bunbury, Frankland River, Bridgetown, Collie, Mandurah, Gnowangerup, Katanning and Narrogin, visiting over 20 regional high schools to engage with 3,000 students on issues including youth suicide, depression and self-harm, as well as the services that Youth Focus provides.
Quite simply, it was an extraordinary experience.
I have again committed to raising a minimum of $5,000 for Youth Focus and would appreciate your support. The riders and sponsors are responsible for the costs of the ride and Youth Focus receives every dollar donated.
We also have 7,000km of training ahead of us!
Thank you for your generous support in helping me help Youth Focus!
