I’m a 47 year-old male with a successful career, a rock-solid marriage of nearly 25 years, two very level-headed young adult sons, great family and friends and what I reckon is a pretty satisfying lifestyle.
I also have anxiety. It is something I have lived with for many years and at various times it has been quite severe. It is a condition that constantly challenges me and I have to work on it daily. Having anxiety means maintaining my mental health is as important as maintaining my physical health.
This is the key reason why I have chosen to do the 2018 Hawaiian Ride for Youth. Our young people need to know that help is available to deal with any mental health conditions they are experiencing. They need to know that there is no stigma in talking about mental health issues. Youth Focus and the Ride for Youth help achieve this.
The fact that suicide is the leading cause of death for Australians aged 15-44 and children aged 5-17 is simply shocking. With your support we can all help make a difference.
