Wow!! Over its 15 year history, the Hawaiian Ride for Youth has raised more than $17.5 million to support Youth Focus in its mission to stop youth suicide. The March Ride earlier this year involved 173 riders, 34 teams, an average of 7,000kms training per rider and the ride itself which was 750kms over four and a half days. It also involved visiting 23 schools and over $2.5 million was raised.
Each year, through the effort of the Riders in the Hawaiian Ride for Youth, Youth Focus is able to reach out and connect with more than 3,500 students, engaging them in discussions about positive mental health.
This coming year will be my first ride in this prestigious event for the non for profit organisation. As a rider it is a large commitment of my time, plus we are covering our cost for all training and during the ride week. In advance I would like to thank my beautiful wife, Megan and our children Maddie and Ryan for their support during the next 6 months. Finally I would like to thank you all for your interest, support and contribution for this extremely worthy charity.
