Having personally experienced the impact that mental health issues can have on individuals and families, I have decided to participate in the Hawaiian Ride for Youth, 20 to 24 March 2018, riding 700km from Albany to Perth.
The purpose of the ride is to raise funds and awareness for Youth Focus, an independent for-purpose organisation that supports vulnerable young people in Western Australia by offering a range of mental health services, free of charge.
Youth Focus operates with a team of highly trained and skilled mental health professionals to provide a range of early intervention and prevention services, aimed at supporting young people and their families to overcome the issues associated with suicide, depression, anxiety and self-harm.
As the riders make their journey from Geraldton or Albany to Perth, we will be stopping at regional high schools to engage with students on issues including youth suicide, depression and self-harm, as well as the services that Youth Focus provides.
With limited cycling experience under my belt, training is in full swing and I am so excited for the journey that is to come.
I have committed to raising a minimum of $5,000 for Youth Focus and would appreciate your support in making this a reality. The cost of running the event is covered by each riders personal investment and thus 100% of your donation goes to Youth Focus.
Thank you for your generosity and partnership in supporting this worthy cause.
