Day Three: Coastal

Go Back

Today, the Coastal peloton cycled more than 150km from Pemberton to Busselton. The weather was cooler, making for an enjoyable ride. So far, the riders have cycled more than 400km.

Upon arrival at the beachside town of Busselton, the peloton divided to attend two schools, St Mary MacKillop College and Georgiana Molloy Anglican School.

At Georgiana Molloy Anglican School, Mary Hackett from Team Avoca gave an engaging presentation to the students. The students asked relevant and meaningful questions related to mental health.

Down the road at St Mary MacKillop College, a guard of honour was formed for the riders’ arrival. This is the 14th year that the Hawaiian Ride for Youth has visited St Mary MacKillop College.

Roger Blow of Team Hawaiian presented to more than 120 students. Roger delivered a relevant, interactive presentation based on online bullying. The presentation encouraged the students to look out for each other in an online space, particularly when using social media.

After the school visits, the riders regrouped and made their way to Abbey Beach Resort for the evening.
