Day One: Wheatbelt

Go Back

The Wheatbelt peloton started the first day of the 2018 Hawaiian Ride for Youth with a hearty breakfast in Albany in preparation for some tough conditions on the road.

These challenging conditions continued for most of the day, with warm weather and a strong headwind. In spite of this, some strong riding saw the peloton arrive early at its first school visit, Gnowangerup District High School.

Second year rider, Belinda Giles of Team Shadforth Financial Group presented to the students, who varied in age from kindergarten to year 10. Belinda highlighted the importance of safety nets, and spoke about the ‘Speak even if your voice shakes’ anti-bullying movement.

Tonight, the riders and Support Crew are being hosted by the Gnowangerup P&C at the Gnowangerup Training Centre.
