I was encouraged to join the R4Y team in 2009 in anticipation of the 2010 ride by one of my work mates – Steve “speed” Carmody. I’ve never met a bunch of such committed good natured and generally witty people.  It’s true, they all like riding and appreciate the fitness benefits but, underneath every rider they are very good people who were ultimately looking for an opportunity to make a contribution to our community. For my part, I too have long enjoyed riding and god knows, I need the exercise, but the privilege of mixing with such a decent bunch of people is fantastic. The ride in 2010 was bloody hard for me. And with work commitments I am only able to participate as a Reserve this year.  I get to raise some cash, train with the team but not actually ride the course (well, I join them at Mandurah).  AS CEO of Silver Chain, a community organisation, I believe I should do as we ask so many of our benefactors to do – put my effort where my mouth is. And, as a farther I could not think of a better cause. My Kid has seen some of their friends get lost so, very relevant for our family. It’s a great cause and I encourage anyone reading this to chip in.
