| Name: | Malcolm Doig |
| Team: | Red Ink |
| Nickname: | Haggis |
| Occupation: | Leadership Consultant |
| Years Participated: | 2010 |
| Biography: | Born in Dundee Scotland when he was still quite young, Malcolm was 10 when he got his first (second-hand) bike for 7 pounds. He was so pleased that he rode round and round in the pouring rain (it's Scotland remember) in the street for hours. For some reason, he feels there's some relevance to the fact that at that time he had a pet hamster called "Haggis". Malcolm worked in the oil and gas business for the first 24 years of his career, until he figured out what he wanted to be when he grew up. Then he started a leadership consultancy business with his partner Lisa, called "Corporate Evolution Pty Ltd". OK, Lisa started it and it looked like a great idea, so he joined her! He started riding his bike to work some 12 years ago and since then he has become a more and more enthusiastic rider. Despite the obvious language difficulties (you should hear his Scottish accent) some of the more understanding team members are able to communicate quite well with him using sign langauage. "An Australian guide to interpretting Scottish Cycling Calls" will shortly be published. He's been helping to bring a sister charity organisation called Inspire (www.inspire.org.au) to Perth from Sydney and was very appreciative when Jenny, the Youth Focus CEO offered some office space to Inspire. Inspire's mission is "to help millions of young people lead happier lives". Their uniqueness as a non-profit is to combine the power of technology with the direct involvement of young people. They deliver innovative and practical online programs that prevent youth suicide and improve the mental health and wellbeing of young people. So its mission is very complimentary to that of Youth Focus. Malcolm really appreciates the opportunty to participate in the Ride for Youth as a way of expressing Inspire's appreciation of the support they have received coming to Perth from Jenny and the Youth Focus team.
