Biography:

Married to Michelle. two kids Ollie (14), Josie (12).  Originally from UK, arriving in Perth in 2000 to leave behind my London commute, pursue an exciting opportunity in KPMG's Perth office and, as a keen windsurfer, to enjoy WA's legendary seabreeze.

My road cycling only really began when I started riding with a group of local Subiaco Dads around the river about 5 years ago for some general fitness and breakfast afterwards.  Back then we had our old "Rottnest" bikes and in some cases knobbly tyres - it was hard work keeping up a conversation on those!  There was only really one rule and that was encapsulated in our self-proclaimed title - "The No Lycra Cycling Club" (NLCC).

As time moved on, we have slowly replaced the jalopies with flat bar road bikes, bought clip in shoes and the no lycra rule has morphed into no "visible" lycra. We are definitely fitter and faster (read "more dangerous") but the Saturday breakfast remains central to our psyche and we never knowingly ride further than about 25kms!

So here I am, turned to the dark side, lycra-ed up and on a full spec road bike.  Given the great cause we are riding for the NLCC will forgive me... in time... although I am told that shaving my legs would be a black-ball event.

So forget the early morning training, forget the pain of the ride itself, you now understand what I am giving up to be here and the sartorial compromises I am making - for that alone I hope you will sponsor me!  Who knows if you offer enough I may shave the legs too...

P.S. I am always keen to know how many cents in the dollar are actually going to a charity so I wanted to let you know we have all paid to undertake this madness - everything you give goes to Youth Focus, not to subsidise my week in the country!
