Hawaiian

A special offer for all cyclists!

Monday, February 6, 2012 - 10:06am

2012 Hawaiian Ride for Youth rider David Corney has come up with a fantastic offer for all cyclists!

"Everyone (well, almost everyone) has their bike serviced regularly and it costs around $100.  I’m not a bike mechanic but I’ve been servicing my wife Gail’s bike and my own bike for a couple of years and have some tools..

Here is the deal -

If you aren’t confident about servicing your bike, I’ll do it for free (all you have to do is to make a donation of $95.00 to my Hawaiian Ride for Youth Account on www.rideforyouth.com.au !) Parts are extra and paid separately.

Here is what will happen to your bike –

• Check tires
• Clean and check brake pads and cables and adjust/replace as necessary (usually not necessary).
• Replace rear derailleur cable if not replaced for 12 months, or if needed ($10).  When these wear they prevent smooth gear changes.  If one breaks you’re stuck in your hardest cog.  A cheap tune up.
• Check front derailleur cable and replace if necessary (these last a lot longer).
• Lubricate cables, brake mechanisms, derailleurs, pedal hinges.
• Replace bar tape if requested ($20-30 cost of tape).
• Check chain for “stretch” (wear).  Replace if necessary (Chain Reaction $45 for Ultegra, bike shop $70-80).
• Check rear cassette and chain rings for wear.  Replace if necessary (cost varies but Ultegra from Chain Reaction $75 cassette, chain rings $80 for pair)
• Clean/degrease chain, cassette, chain rings.
• Clean bike using Enjo cleaning products.

FREE DELIVERY AND PICKUP (you deliver your bike and pick it up again, so it’s free).

So, if you would like your bike made spick and span, drop me an email to arrange a time."

Cheers
