Friday, December 23, 2011 - 12:04pm

The 2011 GCS Celebrity Chef event held on November 18th at the beautiful new State Reception Centre at Frasers restaurant in Kings Park was once again a huge success.   In its second year the event was not only a sensational fun event, it was a fundraising success.

With the assistance of sponsors, donors and guests the GCS Celebrity Chef 2011 raised over $60,000.  The net amount contributed to the Hawaiian Ride For Youth handed onto Youth Focus was in excess of $35,000, including personal donations the total is over $50,000.

2011 saw celebrity chefs Adrian Barich (Channel 7 Sports Reporter), Karina Carvalho (ABC TV Newsreader), Andrew Embley (West Coast Eagle), Sabrina Hahn (Perth's gardening specialist), Mariella Harvey-Hanrahan (Perth Fashion Festival Director), Kylie Radford (Morrison Fashion founder and designer), Scott Russel Hill (92.9 Physic) and Ken Travers MLC (Member for the North Metropolitan Region)

It was a hard fought battle, with a lot of laughs, with the chefs all taken through a series of challenges run by MC comedian Peter Rowsthorn, who is best known for playing Brett on Kath & Kim.  Kylie Radford was the eventual winner with her superior cooking skills.

Events such as GCS Celebrity Chef 2011 are essential in maintaining and growing Youth Focus and its services to an ever increasing number of young people who seek assistance every year.

Preparations for next year’s event have already begun and Riders Wayne Pluske and James and Cath Sutherland, the organisers of the event, look forward to making it even bigger and better and raising even more funds.
